Just 14 months afterwards the barrage of the EOS Rebel 450D, Canon has apparent its latest model, the Rebel EOS T1i (500D). It is the fifth generation of rebels and enter the market at a difficult time – amid a global economic downturn and against fierce competition I’ve seen in the DSLR sector entry-level. So what has Canon done to make this latest model in the longest-established family in the sector live up to the edgy and exciting image implied by its US naming ?

The most noticeable new features on the EOS 500D are the higher resolution sensor, the new high-res LCD and the HD video mode but the camera also comes with the latest generation DIGIC imaging processor which brings a few more low-key improvements such as fine-tunable noise reduction and Highlight Tone Priority or a fresher, animated menu design with it. This Rebel EOS T1i ideal for those who want to create large, poster-size prints – or crop images to perfection without losing any of the detail necessary for printing – Canon’s 15.1MP CMOS sensor is outstanding in low light, and produces images with incredibly low noise.

The Rebel EOS T1i (Canon 500D) combines exceptional keep shooting with the ability to record Full HD (1080p) video. For the moments that needs larger storage on the memory card, users can choose to shoot at 720p or VGA resolution. An HDMI connection allows High Definition playback of footage and images on any HDTV.

When light levels fall, the Rebel EOS T1i (EOS 500D) offers an ISO range of up to 3200 – expandable to 12800 for those environments where using flash is undesirable. The EOS 500D appearance cutting speeds of up to 3.4fps in connected bursts of up to 170 ample JPEG images (9 RAW). Detailed checks on images and video are possible with a screen 3.0 “Clear View LCD, which offers an ultra-high clarity 920,000 points. Switch to Live View approach and use the real-time beheld augment to shoot from awkward angles.
